Assistive technology services include training and supporting district teams in the selection, acquisition, and use of assistive technology devices to provide students with disabilities the means to successfully access the general education curriculum and to meet their educational goals.
Option A: Equipment Loan Request

- To borrow any of the items listed you must complete the Assistive Technology Request Form indicating the specific item(s) needed
- You will receive a confirmation email indicating if the item is available, when you can pick up the item and return date of the item
Option B: Consultation
- Consultation can consist of technical assistance with product features, device use, and training of staff member(s)
- To request consultation services, please complete the Assistive Technology Request Form
- Please remember to save this form prior to emailing it to: assistivetech@liu18.org
- An informal meeting will be scheduled with the team supporting the student upon receipt of Assistive Technology Request Form
- The consultation may result in the development of an action plan if additional technical assistance is needed in support of the student
- The consultation will result in a summary being e-mailed to the team member(s) and the Supervisor
Option C: SETT Facilitation for Educational Access (Communication, Writing, Reading, and Math)
- The SETT Framework is not an evaluation. It is a decision making framework that helps teams gather and organize information that can be used to guide collaborative decisions about tools that foster the educational success of students with disabilities. It is used to make effective assistive technology decisions. SETT is an acronym for Student, Environment, Tasks, and Tools.
- The SETT Framework is based on the premise that in order to develop an appropriate system of tools (support-devices, services, strategies, accommodations, etc) teams must first develop a shared understanding of the student, the customary environments in which the student spends time, and the tasks that are required for the student to be able to do, or learn to do, in order to be an active participant in the teaching/learning process that will lead to educational success. When the needs, abilities, and interest(s) of the student; the details of the environment; and the specific tasks required of students to perform in these environments are fully explored, teams are able to consider what needs to be included in a system of tools that is student-centered, environmentally-useful, and task–focused (Based on the work and documents of Joy Zabala).

- This meeting will result in the SETT Framework Meeting Summary and Action Plan being collaboratively created and then e-mailed to team member(s) and Supervisor
Option D: Professional Development Training(s)
- Requests for building or district wide training(s) should be directed to: sraijski@liu18.org or tgelso@liu18.org
- Training(s) can be designed to meet specific building or district needs for assistive technology for both general and special education staff
- Training(s) can include but are not limited to the following topics:

- Organizational Skills: Low Tech Solutions
- Tools You Have and Tools To Try
